Quarterly Meeting Minutes

1. Financial Report: As of March 3, 2001, the balance is: $3,214.06.

The membership fee of $30.00 for the year 2001 is due.

2. Publication of the Directory of Korean Language Collections in the Greater Los Angeles Area: A copy will be mailed to each library listed in the directory and to the members. The future plan is to expand the survey throughout the nation to publish a national directory of Korean language collections. A letter describing the purpose of the directory will be inserted. Ed Pai will add the directory to our website.

3. KALIPA Scholarship: Letters and applications were sent to several library schools. The deadline is extended to March 15, 2001. Two scholarships will be awarded as a travel grant to attend the ALA conference in San Francisco.

4. NCAPAL and ALA Conference: ALA conference will be held from June 14-20, 2001 at Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco and NCAPAL (National Conference on Asian Pacific American Librarians) will be held from June 13-15 at Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco. KALIPA is planning to have an informal meeting on June 15, 2001 (Friday) at dinner time to get acquainted with the other Korean American Librarians in the U.S. and to discuss the affiliation with ALA.

5. Poster Presentation at NCAPAL: KALIPA will have a poster presentation at NCAPAL on June 14, 2001 at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to introduce the KALIPA. Choonhee Rhim and Jina Wakimoto will lead the presentation.

6. Donation to NCAPAL: KALIPA will donate $100 to NCAPAL.

7. KALIPA Newsletter: Unjoo Lee has resigned from the editor position and a new editor needs to be chosen.
