Quarterly Meeting Minutes

1. Treasurer's Report The balance as of December 31, 2003 -
$2.502.01
2. KALIPA Scholarship Total of 3 applied. San Jose State University 1st year student Tong-su Sin was selected. Young-sil Lee will contact the winner and the other two by the end of February.
3. Program Ideas
- Grant Application to Korean Cultural Center for Users’ Guide
- Library Users' Guide will be published only in Korean for the new immigrants.
- Grant proposal was submitted to the Korean Cultural Center by Young-sil Lee, Chong-sil Han, and Sun-yoon Lee.
- Prospect amount from the Center will be around $2,000
- The Committee Members: Sun-yoon Lee for academic library / Young-sil Lee and Chong-sil Han for public library / Tae-ok Sin for special library
- Each KALIPA members are encouraged to contribute to the content of Users' Guide. Contact any committee members accordingly.
- The rough draft by the end of March or the middle of April.
- The final draft by early May
- Chang-Rae Lee
- He will be in Los Angeles for the UCLA Bookfair. Without honorarium, he agreed to have a program at the library
- Jeoung Um Sa and the Friends Group of Pio Pico Koreatown Branch will have an Author Program.
- KALIPA will do the flyers and publicity. Sun-yoon Lee (with Heawon Paick) will do the flyer by the middle of March.
- The program date is April 23rd 2004, 6:30 p.m. at Pio Pico Koreatown Branch of Los Angeles Public Library.
4. Announcements
- East Los Angeles Community College has a new Library Technician Position opening. Please contact Choon-hee Rhim for more information
- There is a Korean-American Librarian at Orange Public Library system (Stanton Branch): Yong-gi Sin.
- The KALIPA will have a General Meeting again in March to discuss regarding two programs in planning.
