QUARTERLY MEETING MINUTES
1. Time: Mary 18, 2001 6:00 p.m.
2. Place: The Dragon Palace

Lee, Sejung Kim, Miki Lim, Nancy Park, Won-tack Kim, Soonie Choi
(Special Guest), Heawon Paick
4. Report from the Treasurer: the names of the members who
paid the membership due for 2001 were announced.
5. The KALIPA scholarship for ALA Travel Grant was awarded
to two students from
UCLA library school; Esther Han and Eun Gyong Park. They will
attend the ALA Conference in San Francisco.
6. ALA Conference Information:
- KALIPA Dinner: June 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Seoul Garden
Restaurant (22 Peace Plaza, San Francisco 415-563-7664)
- Korean American Librarians Meeting (arranged by Moo
Jae Pak): June 16
2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Terrace Room, Pan Pacific Hotel. San
Francisco)
7. Poster Presentation for National Conference on Asian Pacific
American Librarians:
- The KALIPA will print 120 copies of the Korean Language Collection
Directory for distribution during the presentation.
- In addition, the KALIPA will distribute 1) membership application
forms to promote membership drive and 2) Korean language collection
survey forms to promote the nation-wide Korean collection survey.
- Nancy Park's husband (who is a Graphic Artist) will help
with design of the poster presentation. Choonhee Rhim will be
in touch with him.
8. Special guest presentation:
- Soonie Choi who is a former KALA member and now an award
winning writer in Korea presented her book "Puronhan Nalssi"
that won the Yosong Tonga Literary Award. She talked about her
journey to be an award-winning writer with many interesting stories
until the book won the competition and was published.
9. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
